La Loire prend sa source au pied du Mont Gerbier de Jonc sur la ligne de partage des eaux, on dénombre pas moins de trois sources,
En effet sous le Mont Gerbier de Jonc se trouve une nappe phréatique d’où l’eau jaillit en plusieurs endroits,
Donc pour revenir à nos sources nous allons passer en revue les trois,
La source géographique celle-ci coule dans un bac en pierre situé dans une grange rénovée sous la route,
La source authentique qui coule au pied d’un monument erigée en 1938 par le Touring Club de France
La source véritable elle se situe dans un pré sous une lauze portant l’inscription ici commence ma longue course vers l’océan avec un bassin en contrebas ou l’on peut admirer des truites signe de la bonne qualité de l’eau,
Le nom de Loire est d’origine celtique « liga » qui fait allusion à la pureté douteuse de leur eau
